Alvin Lucier - "Music For Solo Performer" (1965)

The sonification of brainwaves produced by analog electrical andacoustical sounds in Music for Solo Performer by Alvin Lucier, was both anattempt to bypass the acculturated frame of sound (“I think that acousticalphenomena are universal, not cultural, so I decided…to explore the naturalcharacteristics of sound waves” 1 ) and also a door through which we might hearthe sound of the mind in process (and incidentally to experience our own music-reactions to it,) to the extent to which it is possible through the amplification ofalpha waves
