Lake Forest - Demo Cassette

Lake Forest is the solo work of Trevor Clement of White Guilt fame. Fuzzy bummed out songs- Imagine American Football if they were a Shoegaze band. The First run of these tapes were released in an edition of 10 copies, which i was fortunate enough to grab. I've heard there is a more official release now something like 100 more copies.

Achilles - Hospice

Two of my co-workers, one being a very close friend, make up one halh of Rochester New York's Achilles. I've been really into this band since the beginning, but had never been truly floored by their recordings until this album was released on Hex Records in 2007. If you're into bands like Mono and Pelican, but always wished there were vocals to to the songs, then this is for you. This recording is absolutely brutal and beautiful in every sense of the words. Totally crushing and epic. America's most accurate answer to Japan's mighty Envy.

I'm pretty positive that this is my favorite album of 2010. I don't even really want to describe it because nothing i can will do it justice. It's like blown-out and distorted with these subtle and somehow at the same time well defined melodies, brought to you by some of the dudes in the late Cult Ritual. It kind of makes me think of New Order, if New Order was a living being, who as a child was locked in a basement, or better yet a shitty cold dungeon with no lights, and they were forced to write hit after hit after hit. It's absolutely beautiful.

Reading Rainbow - Prism Eyes

Reading Rainbow is a two piece from Philadelphia Pa. They play that noisy lo-fi-ish garage rock that EVERYONE else is doing, except they do it like a billion times better. It's too bad that the band name is so lame. Anyway it's an awesome record.
